It's Okay to Be Weird

Picture this: One day you decide to be daring and wear bright red lipstick out. You feel awesome and you get so many compliments on it. Then you say to yourself, "Hey, I might just start doing this every day!" The next day you put on your red lipstick and go out. Then you see someone you saw the day before with the exact same lipstick on. I know I know, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but this person is being complimented on how original they are, when in fact you were the person that wore the red lipstick first. This is the story of my life.

I am very different then the other girls at school. I dress differently, I talk differently, I listen to different music, and I even eat different food! I don't have a problem with this. I'm not the most popular girl either. In fact, someone asked me where I used to go to school before I moved here one day. I've always gone to the same school as them. But what always seems to happen is that I will be myself and then someone will copy me and give me no credit what so ever. Now I do know that it's a little irrational to want everyone all the time to say who's style they imitated, but it still makes me a little mad.

I like being myself and being original. I've never seen the appeal of following the trends. It seems like these girls at school are all clones of each other. It's good to be yourself and we all don't need to fit in. It's okay to be weird.

Thank you!

First things first, I would like to say thank you. Thank you Heather Clawson for giving away these amazing glasses from Lookmatic.com. They are adorable and I cannot thank you enough. And I would also like to thank Lookmatic and Carlie Burdette! I chose the Apprentice frames in tortoise. I'll post a picture of them. Be sure to go check out the website I mentioned. They have tons of cute vintage inspired glasses. My sister is even going to order some now that she saw mine! Plus they are great quality.

Christmas Dance

So my school is having a Christmas dance and I have decided to go! I like going to dances because it doesn't really matter how you dance. Everyone at my school (excluding a few) are terrible dancers, so I feel right at home. Another thing I love about dances isn't actually the dance itself. I love getting ready for big events. I already have my dress too. It's mint green with little black umbrellas on it! Even though I have my dress already, I have decided to make a list of dresses I would love to wear from my favorite website, Modcloth.

1. Topiary Artist Dress

I love this dress for Christmas. The lace is so cute.

2. May I have Every Dance Dress

This would be perfect for a spring party. I adore the pink lining under the sheer fabric!

3.Frames and Fortune Dress

How could you pass up a dress with glasses on it? I have a matching sweater!

4.Ethereal Elegance Dress

Polka dots are a must in my wardrobe, so this dress would be perfect. I love the color and the "twirliness."

5. Firework of Art Dress

Such a cute summery dress! The detailed sleeve is so adorable. I would wear this to a fall or summer dance.

6. Make the Rounds Dress

This is one of my favorite styles of dress. I love fit and flare frocks!

More to come later!

Sleepless in Seattle

I watched one of my favorite movies tonight, Sleepless in Seattle. The little boy, Jonah, has always reminded me of my dad. I love it just because. I think it is one of the sweetest movies ever!

Let's Go to the Movies

One of my favorite things to do is to watch movies. I love to just burrow down in bed in my pajamas and watch a great movie. So I am going to make a movie list of my all time favorite movies. Here we go!

1. Roman Holiday

This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. First of all, it's an Audrey Hepburn movie. Second, It has Gregory Peck in it. Third, it takes place in a beautiful city. And Fourth, I like scooters. The acting is amazing (Audrey won an Oscar for her performance) and the story is just so sweet. If you haven't seen this, you must rent it at once!

2. Coco Before Chanel

Coco Chanel is one of my favorite people, so of course I would love this movie. Audrey Tautou is a wonderful actress and portrays Chanel perfectly. It is in French, which makes me love it even more. If subtitles don't bother you then you need to see this.

3. Amelie

Another Audrey Tautou movie that is lovely. I love Amelie because she is such a lovely and quirky girl. It is also in French.

4.  Charade

Another Audrey Hepburn movie that is absolutely amazing. I love she and Cary Grant in this mystery. It is set in Paris and her clothes are fabulous! A must see for Audrey fans.

5. Midnight in Paris

Also set in Paris, this movie is a masterpiece. It's a Woody Allen movie so it is just great. I love this movie because some of my favorite writers and people are shown in this movie. I even have a friend who saw this movie at midnight in Paris!

Well that is just a short list of some of my favorites. I have many many more, but there are just too many to put on here. Hopefully if you go watch these you will enjoy them as much as I do!

All About Audrey

She is in my opinion the best actress ever. Ever since I saw Breakfast and Tiffany's when I was eight, I fell in love with all of her movies. Audrey Hepburn is one of my favorite people.

Her poise, beauty, and personality is what makes her amazing to me. I also love her style. She wore what fit her and wore it well.
My favorite movies of her's include: Roman Holiday, Charade, Funny Face, Sabrina, How to Steal a Million, My Fair Lady, and Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I also look up to her because of all of her philanthropy and work with UNICEF.
I do a lot of service projects and would love to do as much as she did.

One of my favorite quotes is something she said. "I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

Sometimes I ask myself, "What would Audrey do?"
And then I know exactly what she would do. She would make the most out of any situation and not let anything knock her down, while wearing something amazing.

I bought something.

So I was at the thrift store looking for records and vintage stuff and I stumbled upon an antique sewing machine! It was $10 so I had to buy it. I think it might weigh more than I do so it was hard to get it up the stairs. I just need someone to teach me to sew now.

I've decided to start writing letters to people. I think it's a great thing to do, because we depend on cell phones and computers a lot. I have a typewriter so it's pretty fun to type letters to people. I use my sealing wax too.

Another thing I love to do is decorate my room. Yesterday I decided to make a wall of pictures of Paris or French themed things. I have it right above my typewriter so I can look up and write about Paris!

Well school is tomorrow. I am having a much better time at school than at the beginning of the year. I write in my free time and I have made a lot of new friends. I am also in the art club and I look forward to that all the time. Plus, having a cute outfit always helps! I love to put together new outfits. However, my school's dress code is ridiculous. I'm not allowed to wear my cute dresses because you can't show your knees, even if you're wearing tights! I make do though. J.crew's Cafe Capris are my favorites so they make for a great colorful outfit.

Well I have to go now. Bon soir! - Emma
